Submission for Review

Authors should submit an abstract (2 pages) for review; however, if you wish to participate in the best paper contests, you MUST submit a full paper (4 to 6 pages) for review.

You should follow the instructions given in the Template in of the 2 pages abstract in PDF file using A4 size papers. For student submissions aiming at Best Student Paper Award competition, authors should submit 4-6 pages full papers in the same format, where the 1st-author should be a student registered in an educational institute.

IMPORTANT: Please refer to the instructions below to prepare your 2 page Extended Summary. Your submission will NOT be reviewed and automatically rejected if you do not follow the general guidelines below on the requirements of the layout and templates for IEEE-NEMS extended summary.

Abstract Format

Page Limit.The page limit is 2 pages. Any extended summary submitted with more than 2 pages will NOT be accepted.

Manuscript should NOT contain any 1) Page numbers; 2) Headers; 3) Footers.
Author List: The author names should be listed in the order of First Name, Middle Name or Initial (if any), and then Last (Sir) Name. DO NOT indicate any membership UNLESS the author is a member of the IEEE.

Figures: Ensure every figure in your paper is clear enough, with a standard of 300 dots per inch (dpi).

References: Refer to the template file below for the IEEE style of reference citations. Please do NOT use reference styles from publications of other societies or organizations.

The above basic adherence to layout specifications is expected. However, you are free to use good judgment in the presentation of your information.


The deadline for 2-Page Abstract Submission is Nov. 15, 2017  Dec. 10, 2017.

The deadline for Acceptance Notification is Dec. 15, 2017  Dec. 23, 2017.

The deadline for Final Full Paper Submission is Jan. 15, 2018.
(It is optional to authors, only if they want to have full length paper of 4-6 Pages appeared in the final proceeding in softcopy.)

You may download the Extended Summary Template as an aid for your formatting. This is only a standard template from the IEEE. Please modify it accordingly to fit IEEE-NEMS requirements.

Please check the following samples with several acceptable format variations for your reference. For 2 pages abstract, all the figures could be arranged in the 2nd page, or distributed in both pages. For the 4-6 pages full paper submission, the figures should be distributed along different sections in different pages.

Oral Presentations

In each oral presentation room, one projector will be available. The presenters should prepare Power Point Slides to facilitate their presentations. NO laptop will be provided in each meeting room. The presenters should bring their own laptop and test it before session start to avoid potential format problems caused by different software versions.

Duration for each category of oral presentation are listed below:
Plenary Speeches are scheduled for 45 minutes (including Q&A) each.
Keynote Speeches are scheduled for 30 minutes (including Q&A) each.
Invited Talks presentation time will be confirmed later in Jan 2018.
(It will be either 20 minutes or 15 minutes including Q&A.)
Regular Oral Sessions are scheduled for 15 minutes (including 3 minutes for Q&A) each.

Poster Sessions

Poster session represents an effective and valuable means for authors to present their research results. There are Poster Sessions in the IEEE-NEMS 2018 conference. Your poster SHOULD have the following dimensions:
